About Lincoln's Penny
Lincoln's Penny was brought to life to showcase, offer for sale and even raffle the over 4,900 Lincoln Pennies collected by Hazel Sherry between 1900 and added to the collection, until her passing in August of 2001. Working in Seattle, Washington as a pharmacy cashier, Hazel collected Lincoln one cent pennies and brought them home to her young son Darrell. For over 3 years, Hazel brought home, Lincoln Pennies, and for most of their days, they remained untouched. Darrell's lack of interest in the hobby did not seem to bother Hazel and was evident in the number of pennies she collected; Lincoln’s Penny could not be happier.
Later in life, Hazel moved from Seattle, WA to be with her son in Huntington Beach, CA. Yes, she brought her Lincoln Pennies with her. Before her passing on August 2, 2001, she gave the collection to her son and asked that he honor the collection by doing something special with it. As any good son would do, he promised that he would and stored them in an attic, where they stayed, until his death on March 10, 2014.
Like Darrell, Lincoln’s Penny is not a collector.
